Position Overview

Full responsibility for Manufacturing within plant. Driving plant (Sewing and JIT) performance improvements through building teamwork and empowering supervision to achieve relevant plant targets and goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed budget for the plant which includes OIP activities linked to foundry / PC / Idea.
  • Implement IDEA projects in line with Lear's IDEA targets.
  • Ensure that plant achieves quality targets with continuous improvements in the metrics.
  • Achieve Safety targets of zero lost days, and a 50% year to year improvement on near misses / minor cases.
  • Achieve headcount plans i.e. forecast numbers of direct and indirect labour targets.
  • Achieve plant efficiency targets and zero missed units or line stoppages.
  • Ensure engineering projects are executed in line with project timing plans.
  • Ensure zero lost units and zero premium freight cost and achieve inventory holding targets.
  • Lead team to achieve forecast numbers and KPI targets.
  • Ensure plant CI projects are implemented, and that target savings are realized.
  • Have clear development plans for Team Leader / Supervisor and Manager levels.
  • Have very clear backup plans for any customer risks that are frequently tested to confirm effectiveness.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary education such as a National Diploma in Production Management or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years operations management experience in a JIT automotive environment is essential.
  • Strong management skills, i.e. effective people management, problem solving and planning skills.
  • Assertiveness and ability to take responsibility and accountability.
  • Ability to interact with the customer and to motivate employees.
