About us

Leapwise is a mission-driven policing, justice and public safety consultancy that helps leaders with their toughest choices. We were founded by an ex-BCG consultant and prime ministerial adviser, and provide strategy consulting support, leadership and organisational development to improve public sector performance. We are passionate about public services and our clients include UK police forces, local and national government departments, and charities.

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a highly analytical and data-driven Consultant to join our small but growing team and to contribute to our high impact projects in policing, justice and public safety. The Consultant will support the analysis of large datasets, primarily in workforce related projects but also including wider data strategy projects. This role offers the opportunity to apply data techniques to uncover meaningful insights and help shape evidence-based recommendations across our client engagements.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Work with clients to structure complex challenges, translating ambiguous problems into clear analytical questions and testable hypotheses.
  • Apply statistical techniques to real-world public sector datasets to generate actionable insight, including through advanced quantitative analysis exploring trends, relationships and drivers of workforce and organisational outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of predictive or diagnostic models where appropriate, focusing on interpretability and practical application.
  • Automate data processing and analysis workflows to add value to insight generation or streamline efficiency.
  • Translate analytical findings into visual, narrative-driven outputs that support decision-making for senior stakeholders, including working with others to integrate quantitative findings into strategic recommendations.
  • Support project delivery by managing analytical workstreams, tracking progress, and proactively identifying risks, dependencies, and issues.
  • Communicate insights in client settings, including workshops, presentations, and senior stakeholder discussions.
  • Actively invest in your own development, seeking feedback, and contributing to a collaborative, curious, and high-performing team culture.

What We're Looking For:

  • Passion for social impact and public sector.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a passion for data-driven problem-solving, and ability to turn data into actionable insights.
  • Experience with statistical analysis (quantitative social sciences or data science).
  • Strong interest in and aptitude for automation, and ability to optimise data workflows and enhance analysis efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills – ability to explain complex findings in a simple way.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills.
  • Continuous resident in the United Kingdom for the past 3 years (due to security requirements).
  • A strategic orientation and mindset.
  • A focus on generating and measuring results – and learning from success and disappointments.
  • A master’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Public Policy, Criminology, Data Science or Economics.

What We Offer:

  • Total salary is £30,200 a year pro rata (with uplift to £38,000‑£41,500 a year if extended).
  • Performance related bonus tied to individual and firm performance.
  • Great office and hybrid pattern, with the team working from our Central London offices three days a week.
  • 9‑day fortnight, with every alternate Friday as a non‑working day.
  • Generous leave policy.
  • Auto‑enrolment pension with 5% employer pension contribution.
  • Both automatic and performance related annual pay increases.
  • Coaching and personal development from experienced leaders.
  • Support for any training and development you require to develop in your role.
  • Subject to passing the six‑month probationary period.
