Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Providing independent oversight and constructive challenge of operational risk activities across all business areas.
- Ensuring adherence to the Operational Risk Framework and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Reviewing and challenging risk assessments, control effectiveness and mitigation plans.
- Monitoring key risk indicators and identifying emerging and evolving risks.
- Contributing to the development and enhancement of operational risk policies, standards and methodologies.
- Ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide risk management frameworks and industry best practice.
- Producing clear, high-quality risk reporting for executive and risk committees.
- Escalating significant risk issues, control weaknesses and incidents in a timely manner.
- Overseeing root cause analysis for major operational risk events and ensuring lessons learned are embedded.
- Championing a strong risk culture and supporting accountable decision-making across the business.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
- Maintaining data integrity, confidentiality and compliance with internal data, IT and security controls.
Skills / Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a senior operational risk professional with strong experience operating within a regulated financial services environment. They will demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, the confidence to provide independent and constructive challenge, and the ability to engage credibly with senior stakeholders. A strong understanding of regulatory expectations is essential, alongside experience driving continuous improvement within a risk or control function. A relevant degree is required, with additional professional risk qualifications considered advantageous.
