Salary: £37,000 - £45,000 (Depending on Live-in/Live-out options)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM flex

Accommodation: Self-contained studio flat (if live-in option chosen)

Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated, dedicated, and knowledgeable Estate Manager / Senior Gardener to join a private family estate in Buckinghamshire, near Windsor. The estate is a small but beautifully maintained 13-acre property, with 2 main full-time principals and their 5 adult children visiting on weekends. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge in horticulture, estate management, and a passion for maintaining both gardens and the general estate environment. This position offers the opportunity for long-term employment in a supportive, relaxed family setting, with the possibility for professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estate Management: Oversee the general management of the estate, including the grounds, gardens, and upkeep of the house. Supervise and coordinate tradespeople and contractors, ensuring the property is maintained to a high standard. Organise and manage services such as water tests, security systems, and regular property maintenance. Handle the maintenance of a small fleet of vehicles (7-8 cars, including luxury cars such as a Phantom and Bentley, and motorcycles), including trickle charging, MOTs, and regular services/upkeep. Manage the security of the estate, including the phone entry system, alarm system, and general security measures. Care for the lawns, trees, and small orchard. Manage seasonal raised beds near the house. Work alongside a part-time gardener (3 days a week) and coordinate gardening tasks. Assist with the development and expansion of the gardens and outdoor spaces as required. General maintenance of the estate's outdoor areas, ensuring the landscape remains in excellent condition.
  • Animal Care: Care for the family dogs (Weimaraner and Vizsla), ensuring they are properly fed, exercised, and looked after. Maintain the general well-being of pets when the family travels or when needed.
  • Additional Duties: Ensure smooth running of the household, including overseeing any additional tasks as required. Assist with occasional driving duties for the family and errand running. Assist with basic DIY and small maintenance projects around the estate. Maintain and look after outdoor facilities such as the indoor swimming pool, tennis court, and garages.
  • Security & Safety: Maintain the security of the property, including setting alarms, overseeing security systems, and ensuring the safety of family members and staff. Ensure the proper functioning of all estate facilities, keeping everything in excellent working order.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in estate management and/or senior gardening, with a passion for horticulture and learning more.
  • Knowledgeable in maintaining a variety of landscapes, including lawns, trees, orchards, and seasonal beds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Capable of managing vehicles & machinery.
  • Friendly, personable, and capable of interacting with tradespeople, contractors, other staff and principals with professionalism.
  • Comfortable with family pets (2 dogs).
  • Proactive, adaptable, and open to learning new skills.
  • A calm, flexible, and discreet approach to working in a private family home.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary of £37,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience, qualifications and living situation.
