Job Overview

The Sales Manager will be focused on building and maintaining relationships with existing and potential clients within the local and national market ensuring a driven and professional approach with all contacts. This is a pro-active sales role whose main objective will be to drive revenue for the hotel. They will actively hunt for new business alongside the Group Director of Sales and will act as a Hotel Ambassador for sales, representing the business during client meetings, showrounds and exhibitions.

The Sales Manager will actively seek and secure new business using all channels of communication to ensure every opportunity to maximise revenue is explored. Key areas of our business include Corporate accommodation, Group Tours, Corporate and Leisure Groups and Meetings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong key relationships with existing and repeat business. Ensuring any opportunities to up-sell or maximise revenue is explored
  • Build and manage relationships with the Brand’s Key Account Directors to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Explore all market segments and establish relationships with the brand’s key account directors to secure national account business for the local area
  • Utilise all forms of communication, conduct off-site meetings, tele-sales calls and ensure a high level of appointments are consistently planned in line with personal targets
  • Identify any tour operator or group business both locally and via working with the Brand Account Managers and relevant teams to secure the business
  • Attendance at any functions, events, networking opportunities or exhibitions on behalf of the hotel. Always maintain a professional approach when representing the hotel and actively pursue any sales opportunities
  • Research competitors to obtain market/rate intelligence and an understanding of business trends, competition, and their key accounts
  • Reporting on and producing any necessary data. Use of all sales office support systems
  • Attendance in all required hotel meetings ensuring any required reports or documents are provided.
  • Prepared to lead monthly business reviews to present the relevant data and information in relation to your remit
  • Have presence in the local community and attend any local networking events or functions. Maintain close relationships with key local contacts and raise the profile and awareness of the hotel whenever possible
  • Adhere to established Sales processes and utilise systems for enquiry handling and contracting business.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication with the hotel’s internal team.
  • Regular communication with the hotel’s corporate travellers through hosting events such as Hilton\’s Honours guest events
  • Awareness of feedback and areas of success and development from the guest point of view
  • Identify personal training needs and attend appropriate training to develop knowledge, techniques, and skills

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in a proactive sales role (branded hotel is ideal)
  • Full UK Driving License is ideal
  • The ability to analyse, communicate and impact business trends and drivers.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills and the ability to negotiate.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
