Our client is seeking an experienced and influential leader to serve as Independent Chair of a well-established national governing organisation with both professional teams and community participation. The successful candidate will lead a Board of Non-Executive Directors and work closely with members of the executive team to provide strategic direction, independent challenge, and strong governance oversight.
Acting as an ambassador for the organisation, the Chair will ensure transparency, accountability and effective decision-making, fostering a culture of integrity and collaborative leadership. This role requires a respected figure who can constructively support and challenge the Board, strengthen governance, and guide the organisation’s long-term strategic direction.

- Board-level leadership as a Chair, NED or senior executive
- Strong governance understanding and sound strategic judgement
- Political awareness, diplomacy and ambassadorial capability
- The ability to build influential relationships with diverse stakeholders
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future direction of a national organisation with passionate communities, professional teams and a strong tradition of participation and engagement. Experience in membership, charitable or governing body organisations will be helpful although not essential. This is a part time remuneration role and will require approximately 25-30 days per year with some additional ad hoc involvement in related projects.
