Role Overview
The Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (TKI) is responsible for the delivery of core subjects within the ATPL syllabus of Theoretical Knowledge, delivered in accordance with the CAA ratified training manual.
Role Duties
Flight Safety
- To champion amongst all students the Company philosophy of flight safety in conjunction with the Head of Training (HoT), Chief Flight Instructor (CFI) and the Flight Safety Officer (FSO) and in full compliance with the Company’s safety policies
- To actively encourage the participation in Flight Safety from all students.
- To teach a range of EASA/ CAA ATPL subjects to the highest standard and in accordance with the Leading Edge Aviation Training Manual Including Aircraft Performance & Human Performance
- To prepare and update EASA/CAA ATPL course materials in accordance with the latest syllabus, making modifications in anticipation of future syllabus changes
- To regularly review training material to ensure it remains relevant and engaging, using innovative techniques and practices where they would add benefit
- To assess and act as an internal moderator in appropriate subject areas
- To prepare, invigilate and moderate appropriate EASA/ CAA ATPL Theoretical Knowledge exams
- To provide guidance and support to individual students, referring when necessary to internal experts or to trusted partners of Leading Edge Aviation
- To act as Course Mentor on a rotational basis
- To act as Subject Matter Expert in a specific area, coordinating the enhancement of courseware and ensuring consistency of delivery
Administration
- To monitor and report on student’s progress
- To attend open days and events as requested by their senior manager
- To attend all administrative, standardisation and Instructor development meetings and in-service training as programmed
Core Competencies
- Proven experience delivering theoretical aviation subjects to a high standard
- Strong knowledge of EASA/CAA ATPL syllabus subjects
- Skilled in preparing, updating, and moderating course materials and exams
- Committed to promoting and upholding flight safety principles
- Effective at monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records
- Supportive and approachable, able to inspire, mentor and guide students
- Engaged in continuous improvement and standardisation of training delivery
- Willing to attend events, open days, and instructor development sessions
- Positive attitude, with enthusiasm to ensure students have an excellent experience
- Excellent report writing and IT skills with a solid understanding of Microsoft Word/Office/Excel and PowerPoint
