The Office of Academic Affairs at William Peace University provides leadership and services to promote academic excellence and student success. Committed to the undergraduate liberal arts tradition, Academic Affairs prepares students from all backgrounds to excel through rigorous interdisciplinary inquiry and immersive learning. We support a student-centered approach among our faculty and staff.

The Assistant Professor teaches in the Department of Interdisciplinary Arts and is expected to:

  • Teach the equivalent of 12 academic hours each semester
  • Advise students, primarily those pursuing the major or minor in IDA
  • Serve on academic and college-wide committees
  • Maintain active professional development activities that can contribute to student relationships with local arts organizations
  • Employ a wide variety of skills in the performing arts and teach courses in such representative topics as: acting for stage and film, directing, dance, theatre/music appreciation, arts in society, etc. Specific course offerings can be tailored to individual experiences and specialties.
  • Help the Department Chair of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Arts manage relationships with visiting arts organizations, guest speakers, and theatrical companies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in an arts-related field
  • Demonstrated experience teaching, directing, or coaching students in schools, arts organizations, and/or professional studios

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MFA or equivalent arts-related degree
  • Experience as a professional performer and/or professional educator or director
  • Knowledge of and participation in local and/or state-level arts communities

Hours per week: 40 hours
