Contextual Safeguarding | Stable Team | Supportive Senior Management | Hybrid Working Pattern

This is a rare opportunity to join a super stable Children & Families / Complex Safeguarding service for an Ofsted rated Good council on the South Coast of England. The role:

As Team Manager, you will lead a team of Social Workers and Young People’s Practitioners supporting adolescents at risk of exploitation and family breakdown. You will oversee Child Protection and Child in Need work and help staff manage complex safeguarding concerns. You will work closely with partner agencies and alongside Durham University’s Risk Outside the Home Framework, supporting staff to deliver safe, creative, and effective plans for young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading, supervising, and developing Social Workers and Young People’s Practitioners
  • Overseeing Child Protection and Child in Need planning
  • Driving high-quality, aspirational, and relational practice
  • Managing complex safeguarding and contextual risk
  • Supporting staff to find creative solutions to complex adolescent challenges
  • Working closely with partner agencies across education, health, and the voluntary sector
  • Championing hope, aspiration, and positive outcomes for young people and families

Experience:

  • Experience working with adolescents and complex safeguarding
  • Confidence in leading, supervising, or aspiring to manage staff
  • Strong understanding of contextual safeguarding and exploitation
  • Calm, solution-focused, and resilient leadership style
  • Passion for creative, relational, and child-centred practice
