We are looking for experienced SEND Casework Specialists to support a Local Authority with a significant backlog of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This is a fully remote project for practitioners with strong, demonstrable experience in SEND/EHCP casework, who can work independently and deliver high-quality, accurate work to agreed timescales. The Council is looking to strengthen its SEND casework capacity following challenges with quality and consistency, so reliability, attention to detail and SEND-specific experience are essential.
The Role
- Managing an allocated caseload of EHCP cases
- Reviewing existing case information and identifying outstanding actions
- Gathering and coordinating information from education, health, social care, families and other relevant professionals
- Ensuring case records and supporting documentation are complete and accurate
- Preparing information and case documentation required in relation to Tribunal matters
- Identifying gaps in evidence and proactively following these up
- Liaising with families and professionals as required
- Progressing cases in line with statutory requirements and agreed Council processes
- Maintaining accurate and comprehensive case records
- Working to agreed productivity, quality and turnaround expectations
- Supporting the wider project to reduce the EHCP backlog
Please note: this role involves gathering and preparing information relating to Tribunal cases but does not involve conducting or representing cases at Tribunal.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience working within SEND/EHCP services
- Strong knowledge of the EHCP process and relevant statutory requirements
- Experience managing a SEND casework caseload
- Experience working with complex or challenging cases
- Strong written communication and report-writing skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to identify missing information and proactively obtain it
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
- Strong organisation and case-management skills
- A consistent track record of delivering high-quality casework to deadlines
We are particularly interested in practitioners who can demonstrate strong SEND-specific experience and high-quality casework, rather than general local authority casework experience. This is an opportunity to join a focused project designed to make a tangible impact on the Council's SEND service by helping to reduce the existing EHCP backlog and improve the quality and timeliness of case progression.
