Leaders in Care is seeking an experienced Interim Health & Safety Advisor to support the delivery of a health and safety audit programme across a portfolio of care homes in the North East region. This role is focused on undertaking structured H&S audits across homes, ensuring environments remain safe for residents, colleagues and visitors, while supporting homes to meet regulatory expectations and internal compliance standards.

The position will suit a Health & Safety professional with direct experience in the care home or healthcare sector, who is comfortable travelling between services and engaging with home leadership teams.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver the health and safety audit programme across care homes within the North East region.
  • Conduct structured H&S audits and inspections, identifying risks and areas for improvement.
  • Review compliance against health & safety legislation, internal policies and sector best practice.
  • Provide clear feedback and practical recommendations to home managers and regional teams.
  • Support services to develop action plans following audits and ensure improvements are implemented.
  • Escalate any serious risks or non-compliance where appropriate.
  • Contribute to maintaining safe working environments for residents, staff and visitors.
Requirements
  • Proven experience working as a Health & Safety Advisor within the care or healthcare sector.
  • Strong experience undertaking health and safety audits in care homes or regulated environments.
  • Good knowledge of UK health & safety legislation and risk management in residential care settings.
  • Confident engaging with Home Managers and operational leadership teams.
  • Ability to travel across the North East region to visit homes.
  • Strong written reporting skills and the ability to produce clear audit feedback.
Contract Details
  • Highly competitive day rate.
  • North East regional remit (travel required).
  • Immediate start preferred.
