CYP Clinical Psychologist Autism Assessment Service Β£60,000Β£66,500 | West Midlands | Full-time If you enjoy neurodevelopmental work but still want the space to think clinically, formulate properly and contribute meaningfully to diagnostic decisions, this role is worth a look. You would join a clinician-led neurodevelopmental service supporting children and young people through autism assessment and diagnosis. The emphasis is on robust MDT decision-making, clear formulation and high-quality communication with families, rather than psychology operating as a standalone part of the pathway. The wider team includes psychology, nursing, SALT, OT and medical colleagues, with senior clinical oversight and structured governance around the diagnostic pathway. What makes the role different. The job plan gives proper recognition to the work around the assessment itself. Around 1822 hours per week for clinical assessment and feedback. 810 hours protected for report writing and formulation. 35 hours for MDT work, supervision, governance and audit. Dedicated time for liaison and administration. You will bring psychological expertise into developmental history, formulation, use of validated assessment tools and MDT diagnostic discussion, while integrating information from home, education and previous records. There is also scope to contribute to wider neurodevelopmental work over time, depending on your experience, competence and service need. You will need. HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist. Significant post-qualification experience with children and young people in neurodevelopmental, CAMHS or related services. Direct experience contributing to CYP autism diagnostic assessments within an MDT. Strong formulation, clinical reasoning and report-writing skills. A good understanding of safeguarding and risk in CYP services. ADOS-2 training would be useful, although it is listed as desirable rather than essential. If you are looking for a CYP psychology role where your professional judgement is genuinely part of the diagnostic process, get in touch for a confidential discussion.
