Are you an experienced Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist looking for an opportunity to combine senior clinical leadership with hands-on patient care? We're partnering with a leading independent mental health provider to recruit a Medical Director & Consultant Psychiatrist for a specialist CAMHS service in Bury. This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role within a highly regarded service, combining strategic leadership responsibilities with the clinical oversight of an 8-bed CAMHS Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) supporting young people aged 12-18 with complex and severe mental health needs.

The successful candidate will act as Responsible Clinician for the service whilst helping to shape clinical excellence, governance and service development across the wider hospital.

The Role

This position combines:

  • 0.2 WTE Medical Director
  • 0.8 WTE Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

You'll work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team including Specialty Doctors, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and highly skilled Nursing teams, ensuring young people receive the highest standards of care throughout their treatment journey.

As Medical Director, you'll provide clinical leadership across the hospital, supporting governance, quality improvement, consultant supervision and regulatory compliance. As Consultant Psychiatrist, you'll lead the delivery of high-quality psychiatric care, oversee treatment planning, support multidisciplinary decision-making and ensure outstanding clinical outcomes for young people within the CAMHS PICU service.

About You

To be considered, you'll have:

  • Full GMC registration and MBBS (or equivalent)
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register (CCT or CESR)
  • Section 12 Approval and Approved Clinician Status
  • Significant experience within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act
  • Strong leadership, communication and multidisciplinary working skills
  • MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
