This role is a short‑term contract position within a well‑established addictions service in Birmingham. The successful candidate will provide frontline clinical care to service users receiving specialist drug and alcohol treatment programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete CIWA assessments and alcohol withdrawal monitoring.
  • Undertake venepuncture and blood collection.
  • Perform ECGs.
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and reviews.
  • Support alcohol detoxification and treatment programmes.
  • Deliver BBV screening, vaccinations and health promotion interventions.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records.
  • Liaise with recovery workers, prescribers and other multidisciplinary team members.
  • Promote positive outcomes and recovery‑focused care.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with active NMC registration.
  • Experience taking bloods (venepuncture).
  • Experience completing CIWA assessments.
  • Competent in performing ECGs.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision‑making skills.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to start within a short timeframe.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous substance misuse or addictions experience.
  • Alcohol detoxification experience.
  • Opiate treatment programme experience.
  • BBV screening experience.
  • Titration experience.
