Leader Education are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join a Primary School in Gateshead. This school provides support for learners aged 3-11. Many students who attend this school also benefit from tailored support to address their Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Prior experience or transferable skills in SEMH would be ideal.

The school is committed to creating a safe, happy, and engaging learning environment where every child is valued for their individuality. With a team of inspirational staff, the school takes pride in fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4pm and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to obtain one
  • Previous experience working in a similar role within an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Follow personalised curriculums and care plans to meet pupils' requirements
  • Work with pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings, communicating effectively
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of the curriculum through lesson planning and delivery
  • Set up lessons, equipment and activities within the classrooms
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other teams to create a holistic supportive environment for pupils
