Leader Education are currently recruiting a male Teaching Assistant for an SEMH school in Sunderland. This school is an alternative education provider working closely with young people and their families across the City of Sunderland. It supports students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education.
Experience working with SEMH pupils or other vulnerable individuals would be highly preferred. The school has demonstrated consistent academic progress, supported by a broad, engaging, and well-designed curriculum. The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:00am until 4:30pm.
The successful candidate will have:
- A fully enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
- Previous experience working in a similar role within an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Follow personalised curriculums and care plans to meet pupils’ requirements.
- Work with pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings, communicating effectively.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of the curriculum through lesson planning and delivery.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other teams to create a holistic supportive environment for pupils.
