Leader Education are recruiting a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a thriving SEND Secondary School supporting young people aged 11-19 with a range of complex needs. This warm and welcoming academy supports approximately 200 pupils with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), complex medical needs and a number of pupils with Autism. The school is deeply committed to meeting the individual academic, social, and emotional needs of every young person and their families.
The academy offers outstanding facilities including a therapy pool and sensory room, enabling staff to deliver a rich, engaging, and inclusive learning experience. Supported by a highly committed and collaborative staff team, pupils benefit from a relevant, progressive and challenging curriculum designed to maximise independence, confidence, and life skills.
The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 15:30 and is a long-term position given a successful trial. Leader Education are dedicated to ensuring that we find adaptable roles and schedules that work effectively for you.
The ideal LSA will:
- Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
- Have experience of working in a transferable role
- Work with the pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings, communicating effectively
- Follow personalised curriculum and care plans to meet pupil’s requirements
- Participate in the planning and implementation of the child’s curriculum through lesson planning
- Possess good classroom skills
- Set up lessons, equipment, and activities within the classrooms
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other teams to create a holistic supportive environment for the pupil
