Leader Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to work within a SEND and SEMH school supporting pupils aged 3–16. The role involves working closely with pupils who have a wide range of special educational needs, including medical, physical, social, emotional, and moderate learning difficulties. The school provides a meaningful and carefully structured curriculum from EYFS through to Year 11, designed to build on pupils’ existing knowledge and help them develop the skills and confidence needed to engage positively with the world around them. The school’s aim is to support every pupil in reaching their full potential—academically, socially, and emotionally. This role involves supporting a Year 10 class and delivering one-to-one support to a student with particularly challenging behaviour, making resilience a key requirement. The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update system or a willingness to obtain one
  • Provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs, both 1:1 and in group settings
  • Have experience working with individuals with more challenging behaviour
  • Establish a supportive and consistent relationship, promoting a positive learning experience
  • Develop a knowledge and understanding of the academic, emotional, and behavioural needs of the child and respond to these effectively
  • Be flexible and resilient
  • Possess good classroom skills
