Leader Education are recruiting a passionate Learning Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Northumberland. This role involves working closely with children who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Applicants must therefore demonstrate resilience, patience, and the ability to manage challenging behaviours and additional needs effectively. The school is dedicated to providing a high-quality education for its 100 learners. Guided by core values of respect, integrity, compassion, honesty, and trust, the school ensures that these principles are embedded throughout the curriculum and in every aspect of student care.
The normal working pattern is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 08:30 to 15:15, and Tuesday and Thursday from 08:30 to 16:00.
The successful Learning Support Assistant will:
- Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
- Have experience of working in a transferable role
- Have prior experience working with vulnerable people with health care plans
- Have a knowledge of SEMH children and behaviours they may display
- Be confident in working alongside students, assisting them with their learning and general classroom activities
- Possess communication skills that can be personalised to suit students both in a group and a 1:1 setting
- Enforce positive behaviour and encourage pupil's confidence
