Leader Education are seeking a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ school that supports children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school currently has a cohort of 60 students. The school is an alternative provision that works closely with young learners and their families across Northumberland, using a holistic and nurturing approach to help students re-engage with education and reach their full potential.
Strong experience supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs is essential. The role is initially Monday to Thursday, although the school would be happy to consider a five-day week if the placement progresses well.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
- HLTA qualification
- Previous experience working with SEMH or vulnerable individuals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Follow personalised curriculums and care plans to meet pupils’ requirements
- Work with pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings, communicating effectively
- Participate in the planning and implementation of the curriculum through lesson planning and delivery
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other teams to create a holistic supportive environment for pupils
