Overview

Leader Education are recruiting a Mental Health/Behaviour Support Assistant to work in a Pupil Referral Unit based in Sunderland. This provision caters for children aged 14 to 16 years old who suffer with their Social, Emotional and Mental Health. The ideal candidate will be compassionate and patient as well as experience working in a group or 1-1 basis with students who have difficulties with their learning and/or exhibit challenging behaviour.

Working pattern

The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30am till 4:30pm and is a long-term position given a successful trial.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • A fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students
  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Experience working in a group or 1-1 basis with students struggling with their learning is desirable
