Leader Education are recruiting a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within a SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Cramlington, Northumberland. The school hours are Monday-Thursday 8:30-4:30 and 8:30-4:00 on a Friday. This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate individual who is committed to supporting young people with additional emotional and behavioural needs. You will play a key role in supporting learning, managing behaviour positively, and helping pupils reach their full potential in a nurturing and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs both in and out of the classroom
  • Delivering planned learning activities under the direction of teaching staff
  • Managing behaviour in line with school policies
  • Supporting pupils’ emotional, social, and academic development
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (desirable)
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service, or the willingness to obtain one
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach
