Job Description:

Leader Education are recruiting for a Behaviour Classroom Support Assistant to work at a small school based in North Tyneside. The successful Behaviour Classroom Support Assistantwill have relevant experience in working with people who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) in a similar and relevant field. The school caters for young people with SEMH aged 3 to 16 years old. The students at this provision may also have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4:00pm and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Child & Adult Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or the willingness to obtain one
  • A strong classroom presence
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of SEMH and the ability to support students with emotional and behavioural challenges
  • Patience and empathy in dealing with students facing emotional and behavioural challenges
  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of students and the school environment
  • The ability to implement and support the development of positive behaviour
  • Knowledge of relevant educational policies, procedures, and safeguarding practices
