Leader Group is delighted to be working in partnership with a respected Therapeutic Education Service provider to recruit an exceptional Founding Headteacher for an exciting new specialist SEND school in Wigan.

This is a rare opportunity to lead the development and opening of a brand-new, all-through specialist school, supporting pupils aged 5–19 with SEMH, ASC and associated needs. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the school’s vision, culture and curriculum from inception.

The Role

  • Lead the strategic development and opening of a new specialist SEND school
  • Recruit, inspire and manage a high-quality, values-driven staff team
  • Design and embed an inclusive, therapeutic and ambitious curriculum
  • Build strong partnerships with local authorities and key stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with Independent School Standards
  • Drive continuous school improvement towards outstanding outcomes

About You

  • Proven experience as a Headteacher or senior leader in a SEND setting
  • Strong understanding of SEMH, ASC and trauma-informed approaches
  • Inspirational, confident leader with excellent communication skills
  • Person-centred, proactive and values-led in your approach
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
