Overview
Leader Education are recruiting an Outreach Tutor to work with a local authority based in their off site hub for 1:1 learning in Northallerton. The ideal candidate will have “QTS/a Level 3 CACHE/Relevant Tutor qualification as well as experience in“working with children with SEND on a 1:1 basis”. The hub caters for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties in Key Stage 3 and 4 and you will be based off site working closely with students who struggle to attend school or require extra support.
The normal working pattern is week days for 2 hours per session, with timings based on the flexibility of the candidate and the student who is being tutored.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 tutoring to KS3/KS4 students with SEMH needs, off-site, to support attendance and progression.
- Work with students who struggle to attend school or require extra support, in a flexible schedule.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and work independently as required.
- Establish a supportive learning environment, build rapport with students, and implement evidence-based interventions.
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant tutor qualifications.
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in a tutoring or teaching capacity.
- Strong understanding of SEMH issues and evidence-based interventions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and establish a supportive learning environment.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
