Leader Education are recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant to work at a specialist secondary school based in North Shields. This school caters for children aged 11-16 years old that predominantly have a diagnosis of ASC, exhibit complex learning difficulties and/or challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will express a genuine passion for education and have some experience working alongside children with SEND.
This school's most recent Ofsted report was presented as “Good” as it continues to create a safe, secure and nurturing environment for all pupils. The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30 – 4:30pm and is a long-term position given a successful trial.
The successful candidate will have:
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Some experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting
- The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
- A good understanding of safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of children
- A compassionate personality and values honesty, inclusivity and respect
