Leader Education are recruiting for a Mental Health Support Assistant to work in a secondary school who cater for children who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). The successful Mental Health Support Worker will have an ability to support teachers and participate to the wellbeing and development of students with SEMH needs. This school takes pride in upholding its fundamental principles, providing great education to 100 students. It caters to their diverse requirements within a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday, 8:30am until 4pm and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one
  • The ability to collaborate with vulnerable individuals who have educational health care plans (EHCPs)
  • Demonstrate understanding of SEMH children and the various behaviours they may display
  • Have confidence with working closely with students, providing support in their learning, and participating in general classroom activities
  • Demonstrate adaptable communication skills towards the children whether it be in a 1:1 or in small groups
  • Promote positive behaviour and foster the confidence of children
