Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Location: Sunderland

Contract Type: Long term

Leader Education are recruiting a Male Teaching Assistant for a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) secondary school.

The school supports students with Autism and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), so experience with EHCPs is preferred.

This advert has a male focus due to the needs of the pupil the successful candidate would be working with.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with SEND pupils and be comfortable providing 1:1 support.

Responsibilities

  • Follow personalised curriculum\’s and care plans to meet pupil\’s requirements
  • Work with pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings, communicating effectively
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of the curriculum through lesson planning and delivery
  • Set up lessons, equipment and activities within the classrooms
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other teams to create a holistic supportive environment for pupils

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • Have experience working in a transferable role
