Overview: Senior Children’s Residential Support Workers – support children and young people with SEMH, EBD, and complex needs. Shift leader, mentoring junior staff, ensuring high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Shift Leader – safe and effective day-to-day running of the home
- Provide child-centred care in line with care plans and risk assessments
- Support and mentor Residential Support Workers and new starters
- Promote positive behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
- Liaise with managers, social workers and external professionals
- Ensure accurate recording, incident reports and handovers to Ofsted standards
- Support safeguarding practices and maintain a safe, nurturing environment
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 12 months’ experience in a children’s residential setting
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – essential
- Experience supporting children with SEMH / EBD / challenging behaviour
- Ability to lead shifts confidently and support team development
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, Ofsted regulations and care standards
- Full UK Driving Licence – preferred
- Flexibility to work days, nights and sleep-ins
