Leader Group is delighted to be working in partnership with a respected Therapeutic Education Service provider to recruit an Experienced KS2 SEND Teacher for an exciting specialist SEND school in Burnley.

Salary: £27,456 - £43,014

Contract: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher to plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching for pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviours. This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.

About the Provision

This is a welcoming and nurturing co-educational independent special school for pupils aged 7 - 16. The school provides a highly personalised and supportive education for learners with complex social, emotional, and mental health needs. The majority of pupils are Children Looked After and live in nearby residential settings. Education is delivered through a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach within a safe and structured environment that prioritises wellbeing, engagement, and progress.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-informed lessons tailored to individual pupil needs
  • Support pupils with SEND and trauma histories to achieve social, emotional, and academic progress
  • Use assessment data to track progress and adapt teaching strategies
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and learning in line with school policies
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and specialist staff
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and therapeutic learning environment

Requirements

  • Proven experience teaching pupils with complex needs and challenging behaviour
  • Strong understanding of curriculum, assessment, and behaviour management within special education
  • QTS or QTLS qualification
  • Commitment to safeguarding, professional conduct, and best practice
  • Ability to plan, deliver, and assess effective teaching and learning
  • Resilience, empathy, adaptability, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils
