Leader Education are recruiting a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a thriving SEND Secondary School supporting young people aged 11-19 with a range of complex needs. The academy supports approximately 200 pupils with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), complex medical needs and a number of pupils with Autism. The school is committed to meeting the individual academic, social, and emotional needs of every young person and their families. The academy offers facilities including a therapy pool and sensory room to support a rich, engaging, and inclusive learning experience. The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 15:30, and the role is long-term following a successful trial. Leader Education focuses on adaptable roles and schedules that work effectively for you.

Responsibilities

  • Work with pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings, communicating effectively
  • Follow personalised curriculum and care plans to meet pupil requirements
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of the pupil’s curriculum through lesson planning
  • Set up lessons, equipment, and activities within the classrooms
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other teams to create a holistic supportive environment for the pupil

Qualifications

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • Experience of working in a transferable role
  • Demonstrate good classroom skills
  • Commit to working within the school’s care plans and relevant policies
