Special Needs Assistant (Infant/Primary)

Leader Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to work at a primary school based in Sunderland. This school caters to children aged 2 to 7 years old and prides itself on being a safe and positive environment for children to thrive.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with SEND in an educational setting and supporting students with English as an additional language (EAL).

The school\’s most recent Ofsted report was rated as \”Good\”. It offers a broad, stimulating curriculum that supports the needs of all students.

The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. This is a long-term position following a successful trial.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

• An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working with children who have SEND and/or SEMH needs
• A compassionate personality valuing honesty, inclusiveness, and respect
• Understanding of safeguarding and ensuring children\’s wellbeing
• The ability to support pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
