Leader Education are recruiting SEND Support Assistants to work within a specialist school in Leeds that supports pupils with a broad spectrum of learning and additional needs. This setting caters for children and young people with Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties, Complex and Multiple Learning Needs, and Autism, including Asperger's. Many pupils also have physical, medical, communication, sensory, or visual and hearing impairments.

This is a hands-on, rewarding role where you will support pupils throughout the school day, helping them engage in learning, develop independence, and build essential life skills. Support may take place in the classroom, during structured activities, or within specialist spaces, depending on the needs of each pupil. These positions are temporary, with a real opportunity for a temp-to-perm transition for candidates who demonstrate commitment, reliability, and a strong fit within the school.

The Ideal Candidate

You do not need previous school-based experience to apply. The school values individuals who are patient, adaptable, and genuinely motivated to support children with additional needs. Experience from care, support work, health and social care, youth work, psychology, sports coaching, or creative backgrounds would be highly relevant. You should be confident working as part of a team, able to follow guidance from teaching staff and therapists, and comfortable adapting your approach to suit individual pupils.
