Overview

Leader Education are recruiting a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant to work at a large SEND school based in Peterlee. The school has ages ranging from 2 – 19 years old and prides themselves on being a warm and welcoming academy that helps to secure the best possible outcomes for their students. Their latest Ofsted rating was Good.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4:30pm. This is a long-term position, given a successful trial.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEND and/or PMLD and assist them in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.

Qualifications

  • An Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
  • Educational background or work experience relevant to the position (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students
  • Understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
