Leader Education are currently seeking a caring, committed, and enthusiastic SEND Learning and Care Assistant to support children and young people aged 4–18 with complex and multiple learning difficulties. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education and providing high‑quality learning and care support to pupils with a wide range of additional needs.

The Role

As a SEND Learning and Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a variety of needs, including:

  • Complex and Multiple Learning Difficulties (CMLD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Physical disabilities
  • Sensory needs

You will work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families to ensure each pupil is supported academically, emotionally, and physically within a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing one‑to‑one and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs
  • Supporting learning activities and adapting tasks to ensure accessibility and engagement
  • Assisting pupils with communication, including the use of AAC, PECS, and visual supports
  • Providing personal care where required, including mobility and hygiene support
  • Supporting pupils with physical and sensory needs, including the use of specialist equipment
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and the development of life skills
  • Supporting behaviour positively using consistent and supportive strategies
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
  • Ensuring safeguarding, health and safety procedures are followed at all times
  • Contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual targets
