Leader Education are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Durham. This school caters to children and young people aged 2–19, supporting a broad spectrum of special educational needs and disabilities. The school operates across two sites, supporting pupils from early years right through to sixth form. Learning is tailored to each individual, with a strong focus on meeting a wide range of needs, including autism and complex learning difficulties. It’s a warm, supportive environment where every student is encouraged to thrive in their own way.
We encourage applications from recent graduates, as well as individuals with relevant experience or transferable skills, who are committed to making a genuine difference in the lives of young people through education. This is a long-term opportunity, subject to a successful trial day, with working hours of Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Leader Education are dedicated to ensuring that we find adaptable roles and schedules that work effectively for you.
Responsibilities- Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
- Have experience working in a transferable role
- Follow personalised curriculum's and care plans to meet pupil's requirements
- Work with pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings, communicating effectively
- Participate in the planning and implementation of the curriculum through lesson planning and delivery
- Set up lessons, equipment and activities within the classrooms
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other teams to create a holistic supportive environment for pupils
- Competitive pay rates

- A dedicated consultant to answer any queries and for ongoing support
- Potential permanent contract after a qualifying period
