Leader Education are recruiting a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Classroom Support Assistant to work within a supportive school setting in Morpeth, Northumberland. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and challenging behaviour, helping them access a creative, engaging, and balanced curriculum that promotes their social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.

You will play a key role in creating a positive, fun, and stimulating learning environment while delivering personalised support that encourages communication, interaction, independence, and preparation for adult life. We welcome applications from recent graduates, as well as candidates with relevant experience or transferable skills.

Role Details
  • Long-term opportunity following a successful trial day
  • Monday to Friday 8:30am – 3:00pm
Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils on both a 1:1 basis and within group settings
  • Follow personalised learning plans and care plans to meet individual needs
  • Assist with lesson planning, preparation, and classroom activities
  • Set up learning resources, equipment, and activities
  • Encourage positive communication and social interaction skills
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support teams to provide a holistic learning environment
The Successful Candidate Will
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
  • Have experience in a relevant or transferable role
  • Be patient, adaptable, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs
  • Communicate effectively and work well as part of a team
