Leader Education are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to join a SEND primary school in Gateshead. This school supports pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). As such, prior experience working with vulnerable individuals is essential for this role. Ofsted has described this school as friendly and inspirational, with staff having high expectations for pupils.
The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position given a successful trial day. Leader Education are dedicated to ensuring that we find adaptable roles and schedules that work effectively for you.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to obtain one
- Have experience working with SEND or vulnerable groups
- Assist pupils in lessons and activities
- Be flexible and resilient, meeting the diverse needs of students
- Work effectively with parents, carers, and other members of multidisciplinary teams to provide the best support
- Possess communication skills that can be personalised to suit students of different abilities
