Leader Education are recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to work at a specialist school based in South Tyneside. The ideal candidate will be friendly, compassionate and have some relevant experience working with children and young people with PMLD or SEND. This school caters for pupils aged 2 to 19 with severe learning difficulties and complex or profound needs, aiming to provide tailored support to ensure inclusivity and a fulfilling curriculum. Their latest Ofsted report was presented as “Good” and continue to pride themselves on having a positive and welcoming atmosphere that students can thrive in.
Working pattern
The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm and is a long-term position given a successful trial.
Responsibilities / Requirements
- A fully enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Some relevant experience working alongside children with complex learning difficulties
- A great understanding of safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of children and young people
- A compassionate, patient personality who understands the individual needs of students
- A genuine passion for education and creating a supportive environment for students to thrive in
- A good knowledge of EHCPs
