Leader Education are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a specialist school in North Tyneside. The school supports pupils across Key Stages 1–4 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. All students have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP). The school is committed to high standards and providing a supportive environment where every student can achieve their full potential. Many pupils have experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), which can present as challenging behaviour, low attendance, or complex additional needs.

This is a long‑term role, working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Leader Education is committed to finding flexible roles that suit your needs and schedule.

The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • Have experience of working in a transferable role
  • Have knowledge of ACES and EHCPs
  • Follow personalised curriculum's and care plans to meet pupil’s requirements
  • Work with the pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in group settings, communicating effectively
  • Possess good classroom skills
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other teams to create a holistic supportive environment for the pupil
