Learning Support Assistant – Scunthorpe (SEMH School)

  • £24.5k – £26k per annum

We’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our small, supportive team at a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Scunthorpe. About The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting pupils with SEMH and other additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, and communication difficulties. Working closely with teachers and therapists, you’ll help create a calm, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to learn.

Your Day Might Include:

  • Supporting individual or small groups of pupils in lessons and enrichment activities
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation through empathy and consistency
  • Helping to plan and deliver creative learning experiences that build confidence and resilience
  • Tracking progress and celebrating every small success
  • Working collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals

  • Experience in an SEN or SEMH setting (school, youth work, or similar)
  • Level 3 TA qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
