An international infrastructure business is seeking a Compliance Director to lead its compliance function across Europe. This is an excellent opportunity to build and enhance an enterprise-wide compliance framework within a fast-growing, multi-jurisdictional organisation.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will provide strategic oversight across regulatory compliance, corporate governance, financial crime, data protection, and risk, helping the business achieve its growth objectives while maintaining the highest compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the organisation's Compliance Management Framework.
  • Design and oversee a risk-based Compliance Monitoring Programme.
  • Ensure compliance with UK and European regulations, including GDPR and data protection requirements.
  • Oversee Anti-Financial Crime programmes, including AML, sanctions, anti-bribery, fraud, and related controls.
  • Manage corporate policies, governance frameworks, and compliance reporting.
  • Coordinate internal reviews, external audits, and remediation activities.
  • Advise senior stakeholders on regulatory developments and compliance risk.
  • Deliver compliance training and promote a strong culture of ethics and accountability.
  • Support ISO certification programmes and continuous improvement of compliance processes.

Ideal Background

  • Significant experience leading compliance, governance, risk, or internal audit within an international organisation.
  • Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise compliance programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and European regulatory requirements, including GDPR.
  • Experience managing Anti-Financial Crime frameworks and compliance monitoring.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and provide commercially focused compliance advice.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Professional qualification in Compliance, Risk, Governance, Audit, or Law.
  • GDPR or Data Protection certification.
  • CAMS, ICA, or equivalent Financial Crime qualification.
  • Experience supporting ISO management systems.
  • Background in infrastructure, technology, real estate, construction, or related sectors.
  • Experience operating across multiple European jurisdictions.
