We are looking for a Senior Ecologist to join a growing consultancy working across a broad mix of projects throughout the UK. This role would suit someone looking to take ownership of projects, support junior team members, and play an active role in shaping ecological input across a variety of sectors.

THE ROLE

You will lead and deliver ecological work from initial survey through to reporting and project completion. The position involves a balance of fieldwork, technical reporting, and client engagement, with increasing responsibility for project management and mentoring.

SENIOR ECOLOGIST KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading ecological surveys including protected species and habitat surveys
  • Producing high quality reports such as PEAs, EcIAs and technical notes
  • Managing projects, budgets and timelines
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients, stakeholders and planning authorities
  • Supporting and mentoring junior ecologists
  • Contributing to business development and tender submissions where appropriate

SENIOR ECOLOGIST REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Ecology or a related subject
  • Strong experience delivering ecological surveys and reports in the UK
  • At least one protected species licence (e.g. bats, GCN, dormouse), with experience acting as a named ecologist
  • Good working knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy
  • Experience managing projects and working directly with clients
  • Member of Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (or eligible for membership)
  • Full UK driving licence
