Our client, an established multidisciplinary practice is looking to appoint a Graduate Ecologist to support a growing ecology team. The role is suited to someone at the start of their career who is keen to gain hands on experience across a broad range of ecological consultancy work within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will work on a varied mix of field and office-based tasks, contributing to projects across the public and private sectors. The team works closely with landscape architects and arboriculturists, offering good exposure to interdisciplinary projects and professional development.

The Graduate Ecologist will support senior colleagues with a range of ecological services, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting with ecological surveys and protected species work
  • Supporting ecological clerk of works duties where required
  • Research and data collection
  • Report writing and technical input to ecological assessments
  • GIS mapping and data management
  • General project support across field and office based work

Requirements:

  • A degree or higher qualification in ecology or a related subject
  • Some relevant paid or unpaid experience appropriate to graduate level
  • An interest in wildlife and ecological survey methods
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic experience using GIS software such as QGIS
  • A willingness to work collaboratively as part of a wider team
  • A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle insured for business use
  • Working towards or holding student or qualifying membership of CIEEM would be advantageous
