Providing assessment, screening and treatment services and health education advice. Provide nursing treatments to patients in participation with general practitioners or independently to agreed protocols. Provide general and specific health screenings to the Practice patients (within agreed protocols) with referral to general practitioners as necessary. Advise patients on general health care and minor ailments with referral to GPs as necessary.
Pathological specimens and investigatory procedures: Following appropriate training, undertake the collection, storage and despatch of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears etc and ensure the cleanliness of any equipment so used. Perform any investigatory procedures requested by the GPs.
Administrative and professional responsibilities: Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the Practice team.
Main duties of the job:
- Be autonomous in making decisions based on assessment, diagnosis and interpretation of test results.
- Be able to work within own scope of practice and understand when to refer to GPs.
- Be able to evaluate or refer where appropriate to other specialists if necessary.
- Work collaboratively with the rest of the practice staff to ensure patients' needs are met.

We are also proud to have been rated Good overall by CQC and are high achievers in QOF. The team consists of 3 Partners and 4 Salaried GPs working alongside a team of Nurses, HCAs, Receptionists and Admin Staff. The practice is supported by PCN Pharmacists and Physician Associates. We are looking for someone hardworking to join our friendly team.

Person Specification: Qualifications: Fully qualified Practice Nurse. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
