Focus Partner firm, GRF, is seeking a Royalty Data Analyst to join our experienced and respected royalty audit team. The team is hoping to welcome a like-minded friendly team player that relishes taking on dynamic challenges. The Royalty Data Analyst is responsible for assisting the department in conducting compliance examinations on behalf of our entertainment clients and other rights holders. This role would be fully remote with the candidate based in the UK.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist managers with music royalty audits of record companies, music publishers, and merchandising companies, on behalf of clients that include many Multi-Platinum and Grammy-winning artists, writers, and producers.
- Download and summarize royalty statements.
- Work with large and complex datasets to identify trends, discrepancies, anomalies, and opportunities for further investigation.
- Maintain organization of electronic files and folders.
- Review and interpret contractual agreements to identify relevant royalty provisions, rates, definitions, deductions, and other key terms.
- Analyze various data flows and income types that contribute to royalty statements and assess the accuracy and completeness of reported information.
- Develop, maintain, and improve databases and analytical tools used to support royalty audits and data analysis.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills to manipulate, analyze, and present complex datasets; leverage Power BI and other data visualization tools as appropriate.
- Maintain strong client relationships through professionalism, integrity, responsiveness, and effective communication.
- Conduct Internet research.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of relevant experience in royalty auditing, royalty accounting, data analysis, or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience working across Recorded Music, Music Publishing, and Neighbouring Rights is required.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables and formulas (such as VLOOKUP and SUMIF) - bonus points for experience with Power Pivot and Power Query.
- Solid interpersonal skills and other key soft skills (i.e., communication, time management, emotional intelligence, adaptability, active listening, critical-thinking, etc.).
- A genuine interest in the music business and music royalties.
- The candidate must also:
- Be a self-motivated and detail-oriented analytical thinker.
- Possess excellent verbal/written communication skills and reading comprehension.
- Understand basic mathematical and accounting principles.
- Work well independently and in a team environment.
- Be eager to learn new skills and concepts.
- Want to help creative artists.
- While not required, experience or education in the music business, particularly music royalties and music royalty audits are beneficial.
This position is a non-exempt position. The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between £35,000 - £38,000. Actual base pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and 401(k).
