The role provides deep technical accounting expertise—particularly across IFRS17, IFRS4, and UKGAAP—and acts as a key bridge between Finance, Actuarial, and external stakeholders to ensure accurate, compliant, and well‑governed reporting. The close process runs from the point of data capture into our core accounts close model, followed by the execution of accounting processes, review and interaction with the FP&A function and finishes once the submission is made and queries cleared.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ownership of Technical Close Process, including the identification, investigation and explanation of any unusual items or in‑quarter movements.
- Preparation and production of insurance technical result on a quarterly basis under UKGAAP and IFRS17.
- Provide accurate and timely management and financial information, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local reporting requirements.
- Support interaction between Finance and Actuarial, reviewing actuarial outputs from an accounting perspective.
- Quarterly Closing Pack technical inputs production.
- Quarterly Financial Reviews of technical result including variance to plan and previous year.
- Assist the Technical Reporting Manager with key system and process enhancement related tasks such as system parallel runs and comparison of technical result.
- Play a key role in change projects and assist the Technical Reporting Team with deliverables assigned to it in this regard.
- Review work prepared by accountants and provide mentoring and coaching.
- Act as a recognised technical authority within the insurance finance function, providing clear and pragmatic technical guidance to senior stakeholders.
- Act as the principal contact for external auditors, responding to technical queries and managing audit deliverables.
- Constantly seek to improve processes within own area of responsibility, ensuring the maintenance of an effective control environment.
- Take responsibility for personal and team Health & Safety at all times.
- Ensure customers are treated fairly in line with Conduct Risk Policy and related procedures.
