The Senior Legal Compliance & Regulatory Counsel serves as a trusted expert and strategic partner to the business, providing authoritative legal and regulatory guidance to ensure the organisation’s activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and continuously improving the compliance framework while enabling the business to meet its strategic objectives in a risk-aware and legally sound manner.

The main activities will focus on product and packaging regulations, sustainability, internal compliance policies (anti-bribery, whistleblowing, code of conduct, etc) and third party suppliers policies.

  • Regulatory Governance & Advisory
    • Act as a senior subject‑matter expert on legal and regulatory compliance, advising senior management and key stakeholders on complex and high‑risk regulatory matters.
    • Interpret and assess the impact of existing and emerging laws, regulations, guidance, and enforcement trends.
    • Provide pragmatic, business‑oriented legal advice balancing regulatory requirements with commercial objectives.
  • Compliance Framework & Policies
    • Design, develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive legal and regulatory compliance framework.
    • Draft, review, and update compliance policies, standards, procedures, and codes of conduct.
    • Support regulatory change management and horizon scanning activities.
    • Conduct compliance risk assessments, gap analyses, and control reviews.
    • Maintain compliance risk registers and remediation plans.
    • Advise on compliance risks related to new products, services, and strategic initiatives.
  • Regulatory Engagement & Investigations
    • Act as a key liaison with external advisors.
    • Support internal investigations into potential compliance breaches.
  • Training & Culture
    • Develop and deliver compliance training programmes.
    • Promote a strong culture of ethics and compliance across the organisation.

What We’re Looking For

  • Fully qualified lawyer (or equivalent legal qualification) with significant post‑qualification experience in legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong experience advising senior leaders on complex regulatory and compliance matters within a regulated or multinational environment.
  • Mandatory: Experience with physical product, packaging, sustainability, and supply‑chain related regulations.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain compliance frameworks, policies, and governance structures.
  • Sound judgement with a pragmatic, business‑oriented approach to balancing legal risk and commercial objectives.
  • Experience conducting compliance risk assessments and advising on mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across multiple functions.
  • High ethical standards and a strong commitment to fostering a culture of integrity and compliance.
  • Experience supporting regulatory matters, internal investigations, or compliance training initiatives.
