Skills & Qualifications — Essential Ingredients

Experience: Well‑seasoned finance business partner in a complex organisation, ideally in a Finance, Retail, or FMCG kitchen, and preferably within an omni-channel commercial. Able to operate confidently across a busy “kitchen” of multi‑regional teams. Ability to work at high heat — influencing senior leaders, steering commercial strategy, and supporting teams through both steady simmering and rapid boil moments.

Education: A recognised finance qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)

Tools of the Trade: Highly proficient in the essential utensils of modern finance: advanced Excel, Power BI, and strong modelling techniques. You know how to turn raw data into a perfectly blended mix of insight and clarity, ready to serve to stakeholders at every level.

Special Sauces: Secret ingredients include enthusiasm, resilience and integrity — combined with empathy, curiosity and a genuine passion for continuous improvement. You add flavour wherever you go, bringing warmth, energy and a natural ability to build trust across the business.

Project Management: Ability to juggle multiple pans at once, managing deadlines, cross‑functional projects and shifting business priorities without compromising quality. Whether leading transformation or day‑to‑day improvements, you keep the kitchen running smoothly.

Communication: Clear, confident communicator who knows how to plate information beautifully. You adapt your style for every audience — from commercial teams to Board‑level diners — and you’re skilled at influencing decisions in a way that is both thoughtful and impactful.

Problem-Solving: When the recipe goes wrong, you know how to fix it. Thriving on diagnosing issues, testing options and crafting solutions with just the right balance of precision and creativity. Like a seasoned chef, you can identify what’s missing, adjust the recipe and deliver the best possible outcome for the business.

Presentation: Comfortable presenting insights, recommendations and strategic narratives with authority. You simplify complexity, engage senior audiences, and confidently position yourself as the subject‑matter expert in financial performance.

Speed: Ability to work at pace without sacrificing quality, responding quickly to new information, shifting demands and peak trading periods. Whether it’s a rapid reforecast or fast‑moving performance trend, you’re able to turn up the heat and deliver what’s needed — on time, every time.

Other Requirements

Sometimes, you’ll need to take your culinary skills on the road. This role may involve a tasting tour across the UK and occasionally abroad, with overnight stays on the menu. To keep the journey smooth, a full, clean UK driving licence is one of the essential ingredients.
