LDH are well established food distributors based in Ipswich with an impressive purpose-built office with a 45,000 holding pallet fully automated warehouse. LDH have over 65 years’ experience supplying the major UK supermarkets and is recognised as the leading own label supplier of a wide range of ambient foods, sourced from every corner of the world.
We are looking for an experienced Facilities and Health and Safety Manager to oversee all building-related activities. You will be responsible for preserving the good condition of infrastructure and ensuring that facilities are safe and well-functioning within our head office, QC lab and warehousing facilities.
- Compliance with Health and Safety legislation, codes of practice and internal policies and procedures ensuring that all associated risk assessments are maintained at all times and all safety and security protocols are followed.
- Liaison with our advisors for Health & Safety.
- Contract management in relation to grounds and building maintenance, cleaning, security and pest control.
- Financial management of the Facilities budget and costs
- Providing advice on matters relating to compliance, codes of practice and sector best practice.
- Plan and coordinate all maintenance of installations (heat, electricity, water etc.)
- Manage the upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards
- Manage the building Inspection structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations
- Review utilities consumption and strive to minimize cost
- Supervise facilities staff (custodians, technicians, groundskeepers, external contractors)
- Allocate office space according to needs
- Handle insurance plans and service contracts
- Perform analysis and forecasting
- Managing building and system emergencies as they arise
- Sourcing contractors and suppliers for repairs, maintenance, cleaning, renovations, waste disposal, security and IT systems whilst negotiating contracts and pricing for utilities services.
- Writing maintenance reports
- Ensure Risk Assessments are current and effective.
- Chair First Aid and Fire Marshalls meetings and provide H&S support.
- Ensure the company pool cars are effectively maintained, cleaned, in roadworthy condition and manage the use by staff.
- Manage and monitor security access systems and passes.
- On call for out of hours issues.
Ensure all contractors have the necessary H&S, insurance, RA’s and SSOW’s
